South Glamorgan

South Glamorgan doesn't exist. Sort of...

The county council of South Glamorgan ceased to exist in April 1996, when it was divided up between Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, which became unitary authorities. South Glamorgan is now what is known as a preserved county, which means it only exists for purposes such as the ceremonial title of Lord Lieutenant. Other preserved counties of Wales include Gwent, Mid Glamorgan, West Glamorgan, Dyfed, Powys, Gwynedd and Clwyd.
